Tax Scams
It is that age old story, if it sounds too good to be true then it is.  Internet thieves are targeting people with and without tax problems with promises of reduced or eliminated taxes.

There are two basic types:
  1. The true believer, these folks consider themselves patriots or pure constitutionalists and that the system is flawed, crooked or evil. They sell packages but actually believe what they preach. These folks may not be evil but don't fall for their position, it will only cost you time and money later.
  2.  The real live scammer, these people sell packages or kits to un-tax yourself. Many if not most of these folks are in it for the money. They will get you to do something that they would not do as long as there is money in it. These are the ones that you hear about getting arrested and convicted.  Run the other way with your wallet.
Other than the usual suspects: IRS (www.irs.gov) and State of California (www.ftb.ca.gov) an excellent resource to see if what you are looking at is a tax scam is: Quatloos (www.quatloos.com). Quatloos has all of the known scams listed as well as all of the players. In this tough economy there will be many people trying to get in your pocket, it is so important that you ask a lot of questions and use common sense.
