Note that this might not be complete information as certain days from Dec. 17-31 are missing)

Note from your patrol special safety program steering committee in Glen Park:

Keep all home doors locked, and do not leave electronic items, money, or packages visible in cars for possible ‘smash and grab’ thefts of opportunity. Note that many thefts are taking place at or near the Diamond Hts. Shopping Center not considered or reported in this Glen Park report! Many of us shop there so be alert!

Holiday tip from the Captain re MUNI: In an effort to protect the community, SFPD Public Affairs has put out an announcement warning Muni passengers using IPods and Laptops on Muni to be very careful. Suspects prey on victims using these devices knowing people are distracted. Please consider not using these devices on Muni and always be aware of your surroundings.

Holiday tips from SAFE:

Pickpocketing & Strong-Arm Robbery

Only carry a limited amount of cash and few credit cards on you.
Keep valuables like keys, cell phone, & money in separate pockets.
Stay in well-lit, well-traveled areas.
Be aware of your surroundings and suspicious persons, especially in parking garages, on public transportation, or in crowded places.

Auto Break-ins

Keep your car locked at all times; never leave your car running,even "just for a minute".
Do not leave anything visible in your car.
If you place shopping bags in your car trunk, do so before parking or move your car to a different location.

Home Burglaries

Keep all windows and doors locked at all times.
Keep wrapped gifts and valuables out of public view or away from windows where people can see them.
If going on vacation, have a trusted neighbor watch your house, stop your mail and newspaper deliveries, use a timed light, and an alarm if you have one.
Do not advertise that you are going on vacation - (such as on your voicemail or on social networking websites).
Consider having SAFE perform a free home security assessment.

Dec. 29 - 40 Brompton 5-7 pm - forced entry thru front doors, ransacking of home with theft of small electronics and cash. Alarm was left off while owner walked the dog; perp(s) likely casing the area. This is a new resident family home at the end of street next to San Jose, with a vacant lot on one side of their home, providing cover.

Dec. 10 - 100 block Moffit 4:03 pm, Vandalism - The reporting party said the screen on his window had been damaged. He said that several neighbors had been seeing a black male, 5’11 170 lbs. walking around the apartment complex. It is unknown if this is the individual that caused the propertydamage. Case number 091258880
800 block Bosworth 5:30 pm, Suspicious Occurrence - A woman reported a suspicious occurrence. She said that she walked into the garage of her apartment building and saw an unfamiliar person tampering with the electrical meter. That person told her that he was hired by the landlord and that person stated the landlord’s name. The reporting party said that she has contacted PG&E and they will be responding out. She believes that her landlord is trying to obtain free electricity. Case number 09129327
1500 block Diamond, 8:05 am - Stolen Auto

Dec. 8 - 500 block Laidley, 10:32 am - Stolen Auto
200 block Laidley, 5:57 pm - Stolen Van

Dec. 7 - Diamond/Bosworth 6:01 pm, Theft -The victim was reading email on his cell phone while at a bus stop when two suspects came by and snatched the phone from his hands. They then fled the area. They were described as black males, 6’00, 200 lbs (blue shirt, khakis) and 5’11, 220 lbs (dark clothing). Case number 091252779.

Dec. 5 - 600 block Holly Park 8:16 pm, Drug Arrest - Officers responded to a request to meet with the
fire department. They met with the firefighters who had noticed two men acting as if they were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. One firefighter also saw one of the men drop a plastic bag containing crystal methamphetamine. The man was placed under arrest, case number 091246330.

Dec. 3 - San Jose Av/280 on Ramp, 11:22 pm -Vandalism to Vehicle. Party parked his MUNI issued pickup truck and preceded to inspect the MUNI light. The victim said that he saw someone standing near the truck and when he called out to them, they ran away. He said that when he returned to his truck, the window was broken and nothing was missing. Case number091240116

Dec. 1 - 200 block Monterey 8:35 pm, Robbery - The victim said that she was walking down the street while talking on the phone. She then felt her purse being tugged off of her shoulder so hard that the strap broke. The victim turned around and saw a second suspect also there, who demanded her cell phone. The victim complied and the suspects fled in a white vehicle. Case number 091232759.

NOVEMBER 2009 - 19 CRIMES

A number of incidents on the public bus at the Mission and 30th stop have been noted such as on Nov. 11 (including one incident where robber pulled a gun on passenger on MUNI). Be very careful when riding the public bus. Keep all home doors locked, and do not leave electronic items, money, or packages visible in cars for possible ‘smash and grab’ thefts of opportunity. Note that many thefts are taking place at or near the Diamond Hts Shopping Center not considered or reported in this Glen Park report! Many of us shop there so be alert!

Nov. 30 - San Jose/Randall 8:50 pm, Vehicle Vandalism - The victim said that she was driving when a car stopped in front of her vehicle. A passenger of the suspect vehicle got out and hit her windshield once with his hand, causing it to smash. The suspect then rode away in his vehicle. Case number 091228855.

Nov. 22 - 900 blk of Bosworth 5 pm, Vandalism - The victim told the officer that she left her apartment only to find that someone had broken her door upon her return. No suspect was observed. Report number 091203926.
100 blk Randall 4 pm, Stolen Auto

Nov. 20 - Mission @ Randall 5:47 pm, Possessions of a Gun Arrest - Officers on patrol when they noticed a group of men that were standing next to a car. The officers noticed that one of the men were holding and drinking a beer as he got into the driver side of the car. The officers stopped and detained the men and immediately observed that one of the other men was holding a rifle and looked like he was loading a bullet into it. The officers drew their guns and ordered the suspect to drop the rifle. The suspect dropped it and was taken into custody. The officers continued their investigation and discovered that the suspect that was attempting to load the rifle is on “PAROLE”. Both men were arrested and booked. Report number 091196456

Mission/30th 9:15 am, Robbery/Street - Officers spoke with the victim who said he had left a store with a bag of grocery items. A suspect approached him and pushed him while taking the grocery bag out of his hand. The suspect fled the scene prior to the officers arrival. 091190737

Nov 17 - 500 blk of Chenery 8 pm, Theft from Auto - The victim told the PSA that she parked her car in front of her house and locked it. When the victim returned to her car in the morning she discovered that someone had broken a window and taken her CD player. Report number 091182900

Nov. 11 - 100 Block of Elk 10:48 am, Graffiti/Hate Crime at rec center . The officers observed “Nazi” related graffiti on the walls. There was no suspect information. 091162526

Mission/30th 5:17 pm, Theft/Muni Bus - The victim said she was getting off the bus with her two small children. The suspect was standing in front of her also getting off the bus. He turned and offered to help her with her stroller. The suspect got off the bus and took the victim’s IPHONE from the stroller pocket and fled. 091163900

Nov. 10 - The SFPD has received reports of some very hateful graffiti in Glen Park. They take this crime very seriously. The Recreation and Park Department has painted over the graffiti and SFPD says they have a plan in place to capture the suspects. Please report graffitti to Officer Cal as well.
200 Arbor 10:15 am - Recovered vehicle.

Nov. 6 - Surrey @ Chenery 12:50 pm, Theft from Auto Arrest - Report of a person breaking into cars. The officers arrived and with the information dispatched located a possible suspect. The officers detained and called for assistance. The witness told the officer that he could identify the suspect. The victim was taken to identify the suspect, which he did positively. Another example of how the Ingleside community is working in partnership with the police. The suspect was arrested and booked for auto burglary. Report number 091148714
100 blk of Elk 9:00, Vandalism - The victim told the officer that he left work the prior night only to return and find that someone had damaged the building with graffiti the next morning.
1300 blk of Bosworth 9:30 pm, Vandalism - The victim told the officer that he parked his cars in front of his home only to discover that someone had sprayed paint on his cars. No suspects were observed. Report number 091148639

Nov. 7 - Surrey @ Chenery 12:50 pm, Theft from Auto Arrest - Officers Chang and Suslow were sent to investigate a person breaking into cars. The officers arrived and with the information dispatched located a possible suspect. The officers detained and called for assistance. Officers Naval and Morrow responded and stayed with the suspect as officer Chang went to meet the witness. The witness told the officer that he could identify the suspect. The victim was taken to identify the suspect, which he did positively. Another example of how the Ingleside community is working in partnership with the police. Nov. 6 - 200 blk of Congo 4:05 pm, Attempted theft from Auto - The victim told the PSA that he was picking up his children. He parked his car and walked to the front door. The victim was standing at the front door, when a suspect walked up to his car and cut an opening in his convertible top. The victim yelled out and the suspect ran. No loss. Report number 091146213.

Nov. 5 - 2700 blk of Diamond, 5:20 pm - Suspicious Occurrence The victim explained he observed a customer who he suspects of shoplifting, but has never been able to witness the subject in an actual shoplifting act. The victim told officers he has observed the subject in the store on several occasions, but has not observed the subject purchase any merchandise. Subject was identified. Report number 091139070

Nov. 3 - 300 blk Arlington, 7 pm - Stolen Auto

Nov. 2 - 100 blk of Surrey 3 pm, Burglary - The victim told the officer that an unknown suspect made entry to the house by the back door. The suspect made off with a bag containing papers with confidential credit information. No one had permission to enter the house. Report number 091129388
800 blk of Chenery 9:30 pm, Theft from Auto -The victim told the officer that she parked her car and left her purse in view. The victim left only to discover that someone had broken her window and stolen her purse. Report number 091132159

Nov. 1 - Elk @ Chenery 1:10 am, Assault with Weapon - The victim told the officers that he was walking home when a group of suspects engaged him in conversation. The victim told the officers that he was just trying to get home. One of the suspects asked the victim for money. The victim just kept walking only to have the suspect throw a bottle at the victim’s head. The suspect picked up the bottle and threw it a second time at the victim. The suspects then fled. 100 blk of Bosworth 7:30 pm, Theft - The victim told the officer that he observed the suspect walk into the store take a beer and candy, then walked out and got into a waiting car and fled. Report number 091127423.

Sept. 10 - 2500 Block of Diamond St. 9:17 am Theft/Registration Tab stolen Case #090931885
Sept 9 - Wilder and Arlington 4:41 pm. Drug arrest, narcotics investigation. The officers were able to locate a subject that was on probation and with a search condition. When the officers located the subject they found that he was in possession of narcotics, thus violating his probation and sending him back to jail. Arrest made. Report number 090922367
Sept 5 - 300 block of Arbor 5pm. Theft from Vehicle. The victim parked and locked his car only to find some criminal had broken into the car and stolen property. The suspect made off with some personal items and cash. (Safety Tip: Never leave any coins or cash in your vehicles) Report number 090916956
Sept. 2 - Bosworth/Chilton 8:59 pm Purse Snatch. The victim said that she was walking on the sidewalk when she felt her purse being pulled off of her shoulder from behind. The suspect then fled the scene with the purse, which contained a drivers license, keys, cash, and credit cards. Case number 090900987.
Near Glen Park:
We've noted an increase in incidents in outlying near Glen Park areas, many up at Diamond Hts at the shopping center, and also on buses. Be cautious walking or shopping in these areas, and taking public buses, especially after dark. Note such nearby incidents such as:
Sept 18 - McClaren Park 5 am.Attempted Robbery/Aggravated Assault The victim was walking in the park when he was approached by a suspect who asked him what he had. When the victim stated he did not have anything he saw the suspect raise his arm, heard a gunshot, and realized he had been shot. The victim drove himself home then had a family member drive him to the hospital. Case #090958259
Sept 15
- Mission and Silver  11:43 pm. Carrying weapon -Officers were sent to investigate a suspicious man in an area that has been plagued with street robberies. Search on bus yielded a gun.
- Mission and Silver. 2:44 pm.  Investigation of a stabbing at this location. The officer located a subject and detained him for investigation. The investigation was for a stabbing where a composite drawing of the suspect was made. This subject was identified and the information sent to the inspectors for follow-up. Report number 090900636
Sept 9
- Silver and Mission 8:14 pm. Pickpocket victim had her backpack on her shoulder on the crowded bus. The victim told the officer that the phone was on the outside pocket of the backpack. The victim did not see or feel anyone remove her phone. (Safety Tip: When on a crowed bus, always place your backpack in front of you. If you can put the backpack on and wear your jacket over it zipped up) report number 090923252
- McLaren Park 3:40 pm. Theft from person, victim was at the park playing with her children and placed her purse on a bench. The victim did not notice when two young people took the stolen items out of her purse. (Safety Tip: While at the park carry small items in a pant pocket (keys/cash). Avoid bringing purses). Sept. 3 - 5700 block Diamond Heights Blvd 4:44 pm. Burglary a residential burglary. Victim's passport, laptop, money, and camera were stolen, case 090903953.
Sept. 2 - 5200 block Diamond Heights 7:25 pm. Burglary The victim said that he returned home from work to find that someone had stolen a laptop, bicycle, video games, and coins from his residence. The victim said that he locked the door to his apartment when he left and it was locked when he returned. Case number 090900802.
