Patrol Special Police Officer Jane Warner
Biography:
Jane Ellen Warner was born in White Salmon, Washington
on November 7, 1956. She died May 8, 2010 at her home in
San Francisco surrounded by her loved ones. Jane is
survived by her mother, Carol Warner, her sisters, Lynn
Fitch and Kathryn Ness, her wife, Dawn Robinson Warner,
and a large network of extended family and friends. Her
father, Herbert Warner, preceded her in death.
Jane moved with her family to Tacoma, Washington in
1963. She attended Franklin Elementary School. Jane and
her family moved again to their new home on Wollochet
Bay near Gig Harbor, Washington. She graduated from
Peninsula High School in Gig Harbor and attended Tacoma
Community College. During her education in Washington,
she took piano and gymnastics lessons and was active in
sports. She was on her high school and community college
basketball teams and coached high school women’s
basketball.
Jane began her law enforcement career
in Hawaii, first with the sheriff’s department and later
with the Honolulu Police Department. During her time in
Hawaii, Jane graduated from Chauminade University, a
Jesuit school.
Jane moved to California and was
accepted into California law enforcement training. She
worked for a time in the San Anselmo sheriff’s
department. She later chose to join the San Francisco
Patrol Special Police, which became her life career and
her passion. She continued her education, graduating
from the University of San Francisco.
Throughout
her life, Jane supported civil rights causes and had a
tender heart for all animals. Jane was cherished by her
family and loved beyond measure.
